About

Dr. Yasmin Taban is a licensed clinical psychologist and the founder of her boutique private practice dedicated to helping children, teens, and their families find relief from anxiety and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD). She intentionally maintains an intimate practice so every client receives highly personalized, evidence-based care.

Dr. Taban specializes in working with children and adolescents who experience anxiety, OCD, and related disorders -- social anxiety, generalized worry, separation anxiety, specific phobias, and the stressors that come with difficult life. Her approach blends Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) — the gold-standard treatment for OCD and anxiety — with mindfulness and compassion-based interventions to help kids feel more confident and capable.

Parents often describe Dr. Taban’s style as encouraging and collaborative. She believes that meaningful progress happens when therapy feels safe, structured, and empowering — for both children and their families.

Her advanced clinical training includes work at the UCLA Child OCD Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) under the supervision of leading experts in the field of anxiety and OCD, as well as at Rogers Behavioral Health, where she specialized in treating children and teens with severe anxiety and OCD. These experiences gave her a deep understanding of the complexities of anxiety disorders and how to help families move from fear to freedom. Additionally, Dr. Taban trained at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) to gain a more in-depth understanding of psychological testing/assessment.

Dr. Taban earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from UCLA and her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology (CSPP-LA), an APA-accredited program. She completed her clinical internship at an APA accredited site, Western Youth Services, a community clinic focused on children and families affected by intergenerational trauma.

Her doctoral dissertation, The Development of Compassion: An Eastern and Western Perspective, reflects a core value in her work — that healing begins with understanding, kindness, and compassion toward oneself and others.
